Intestinal mass in a 7 year old FS Rottweiler dog

A 7-year-old FS Rottweiler dog was presented for vomiting, intermittent diarrhea, and inappetence for 1 week. There had been a partial response to IV fluids and Cerenia for 2 days. Blood work was within normal limits.

Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM)-like Syndrome Secondary to Parvoviral Myocarditis

A one month old sheltie cross dog with a history of 5 of 7 littermates dying from parvovirus was presented for lethargy, and diarrhea. Parvovirus was identified in a littermate’s myocardium at necropsy.

Bladder mass in an 11 year old FS Vizsla

An 11-year-old FS Vizsla was presented for diarrhea, tenesmus, and stranguria for a few months. Rectal exam revealed minor thickening in the urethral region. A Canine diarrhea panel was positive for Clostridium Perfringens Enterotoxin A.

Splenic mass in a 7 year old MN Vizsla

A 7-year-old MN Vizsla was presented for diarrhea and vomiting for three days. Physical examination showed pyrexia (103.3°) and a soft non-painful abdomen. CBC and blood chemistry were within normal limits. Radiographs showed a round, mid-abdomen mass, possibly splenic. The patient was treated with subcutaneous fluids, Centrine, ampicillin, and Cerenia.

Mediastinal lymphoma diagnosed by FNA of mediastinal lymph nodes in a 4 year old hypercalcemic MN Golden Retriever

A 4-year-old MN Golden Retriever with a history of lethargy and intermittent diarrhea was presented for an office visit. The only abnormality on serum biochemistry was hypercalcemia.

A 12-year-old FS Pomeranian was presented for acute vomiting and diarrhea. On physical examination, dyspnea, coughing, and a heart murmur were present. Urinalysis, T4, coagulation profile, and CBC were all within normal limits. Abnormalities on serum biochemistry were revealed elevated total proteins, globulin, liver enzyme activity, total bilirubin, and azotemia.

Possible Addison’s disease in an 8 year old MN Labrador Retriever

An 8-year-old MN Labrador Retriever dog was presented for anorexia, lethargy, and diarrhea of 1 week’s duration. Physical examination was within normal limits. Abnormalities on laboratory testing were elevated liver enzyme activity and hyperamylasemia. Pre and post ACTH cortisol was 0.4 and 0.3 ug/dL, respectively.

A 10-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog was presented for vomiting, anorexia, and diarrhea for 4 days. Physical examination was non-remarkable. Abnormalities on CBC and blood chemistry were leukocytosis, monocytosis, neutrophilia, lymphopenia, mild thrombocytopenia, hypoalbuminemia, and hypoproteinemia. Radiographs showed a prominent pylorus and some gas accumulation in the small intestines.

Abnormalities on CBC and blood chemistry were leukocytosis, monocytosis, neutrophilia, lymphopenia, mild thrombocytopenia, hypoalbuminemia, and hypoproteinemia. Suspect pancreatic carcinoma in a 15 year old FS Mixed breed dog

A 15-year-old FS mixed breed dog with a history of being Ehrlichia positive, hypothyroid, having a grade 2 mast cell tumor, and a tumor on the right rear leg, was presented for evaluation of diarrhea and decreased appetite. Abnormalities on CBC and serum biochemistry were mild anemia, elevated amylase, hypoalbuminemia, and hyperglobulinemia.
