A 12-year-old neutered male DSH cat was presented for inappetence, polydipsia, and lethargy. The patient had a history of FLUTD and pancreatitis. Recent laboratory testing had shown leukocytosis and hyperlipasemia. Abdominal pain was present on abdominal palpation. Loss of abdominal detail was evident on survey abdominal radiographs.

Pancreatitis in a 10 year old FS Burmese cat

A 10-year-old FS Burmese was presented for anorexia, vomiting, and soft stool. The physical exam revealed mild dehydration, tacky mucous membranes, fever of 104 degrees F, and mild cranial abdominal pain on palpation. CBC and blood chemistry analysis revealed only mildly elevated triglycerides. 

Functional adrenal adenoma and renal amyloidosis in a 9 year old FS Labrador Retriever

A 9 year old FS Labrador was presented for anorexia. Previous laboratory work had shown an inappropriate urine SG, 3+ proteinuria, microalbuminuria, azotemia, thrombocytosis, and negative 4Dx. The only significant abnormality on physical examination was dehydration. Baseline androstenedione and estradiol were elevated and ACTH stimulation revealed elevated cortisol, elevated estradiol, and elevated progesterone.

Right hydronephrosis and mild hydroureter in an 8 year old female spayed DSH cat

An 8-year-old female spayed DSH cat was presented for weight loss, anorexia, and weakness. The cat was currently on phenobarbital. The only significant abnormality on physical examination was right renomegaly. Urinalysis showed 3+ hematuria, 1+ proteinuria, and elevated microalbuminuria. Azotemia and hyperamylasemia were evident on serum biochemistry.

A 13 year old male neutered DSH was presented for a decreased appetite. On physical examination, thickened intestines were present on palpation. Urinalysis was within normal limits. CBC showed neutrophilia, lymphopenia, and thrombocytopenia. On survey radiographs, gas in the colon, food in the stomach, and mineral densities in the kidneys was evident.

Lymphoma diagnosed by trucut biopsy of mediastinal lymph node in a 7-year-old MN Boxer dog

A 7-year-old MN Boxer with history of hypothyroidism (on Soloxine) was presented for PU/PD and decreased appetite. Physical examination of the dog was non-remarkable. Abnormalities on blood chemistry were elevated ALP and ALT activity, marked hypercalcemia, and hyperglobulinemia. An ACTH stimulation test was within normal range.

Neoplasia of epithelial origin diagnosed by abdominal fluid analysis in a 10 year old FS mixed breed dog.

A 10-year-old FS mixed breed dog was examined for anorexia and lethargy. Weight loss and muscle atrophy were noted on physical exam. Preoperative blood work revealed azotemia, hypoalbuminemia, and hyperglobulinemia. CBC found a low hematocrit, low RBCs, and a neutrophilia. PT and PTT were both within normal reference range.
