IBD in a 10-year-old Bernese Mountain dog

A 10-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog was presented for vomiting, anorexia, and diarrhea for 4 days. Physical examination was non-remarkable. Abnormalities on CBC and blood chemistry were leukocytosis, monocytosis, neutrophilia, lymphopenia, mild thrombocytopenia, hypoalbuminemia, and hypoproteinemia. Radiographs showed a prominent pylorus and some gas accumulation in the small intestines.

Linear foreign body in a 9-year-old MN DSH cat

A 9-year-old MN DSH was presented for weight loss. Physical examination revealed no significant findings. Survey radiographs were suggestive of ileus, bowel thickening, and were suggestive of a mass effect. Abnormalities on CBC and serum biochemistry were thrombocytopenia, mild hyperglycemia, and hyperamylasemia.

An 8-year-old FS DSH was presented for anorexia and weight loss. Physical exam revealed pale mucous membranes and an unkempt appearance. Hyperglycemia was present on the blood chemistry profile at 162. The CBC showed a mild leukopenia (WBC 4.97), and neutropenia, as well as a decrease of the hemoglobin at 4.3 and hematocrit at 12.3.

A 9-year-old MN DSH was presented for weight loss. The cat was febrile on physical exam (temperature of 105.0F). A blood chemistry profile revealed hyperbilirubinemia 4.1, hypermagnesemia 2.6 and elevated liver enzyme activities (elevated SAP, elevated ALT, and elevated AST).
