A 15-year-old SF German shepherd mix was presented for evaluation of squatting and urinating frequently. Azotemia was present on serum biochemistry.

06_00203 Tai Chi H Urethral mass with ureteral invasion, suspect TCC

A 12-year-old SF Aussie was presented for evaluation of a 2-3 month duration of stranguria, pollakuria, and urination accidents in the house. Treated initially with amoxicillin and then with TMS with no response. Free catch urine culture yielded pseudomonas. Current therapy is fluoroquinolone but still with no response. Appetite and activity are both normal. 

Bladder mass in a 12 year old FS West Highland terrier

A 12-year-old female spayed West Highland White terrier dog was presented for evaluation of pollakiuria and stranguria of 4 weeks duration. Urinalysis showed an inappropriately low SG (1.015), blood, and large number of epithelial cells. Blood work showed mildly elevated ALP activity and CK.

A 10-year-old FS American Eskimo dog was presented for stranguria, hematuria, pollajuria and just not herself. She was non responsive to therapy for UTI. Severe azotemia and moderate anemia developed. Urinalysis revealed proteinuria, elevated WBC, blood and transitional cells, and isosthenuria.

Urethral mass in a 11 year old S Dachshund dog

An 11-year-old SF Dachshund with a history of recurrent UTI was presented for evaluation of chronic, inappropriate urination and more recently pollakiuria. Urinalysis showed isosthenuria and hematuria. Abnormalities on serum biochemistry were mildly elevated ALP and AST activity, 95, CPK 1944, albumin 4.1, total protein 7.9.  

Prostatic carcinoma diagnosed by ultrasound-guided FNA in a 14 year old MN Pomeranian

A 14-year-old neutered male Pomeranian dog was presented for evaluation of pollakiuria,  diarrhea, inappetence, and lethargy. Abnormalities on physical examination included a painful, enlarged and symmetrical prostate, a very large and firm urinary bladder that could be expressed, and a grade III/VI heart murmur. On survey thoracic radiographs, calcification of the prostate gland was evident.

Prostatic carcinoma and regional lymph node metastasis in a 13 year old MN Maltese dog presented for hematuria

A 13-year-old MN Maltese was presented due to concern over bladder issues and hematuria. Radiographs revealed NSF. Urine specific gravity was 1.027, WBC 30-50, RBC >50. Chemistry AP 614, ALT 65, spec cPL was 321.
