Where are those kidneys?

Where are those kidneys?

Real quick question for any one who can comment.  I was performing a tech ultrasound on a patient today. An 8-year-old FS Miniature Schnauzer with history of a liver shunt. Presented for decreased appetite and lethargy. Blood chemistry showed kindey failure.  WBC was also high. The patient was placed on high rate I.V.

The Waiting Game….

Is it my turn yet?

Yikes! What’s up with my patient’s urine?

Urine is usually a nice yellow color.  It’s clear, not cloudy, and  doesn’t smell too bad unless of course it is from an intact male cat that has just nervously peed down your leg.  Figures, right? You have been caring for a very sick dog with liver issues for a few days.  Blood work showed…

We would love to see some of your interesting hospital pictures everyone!  It is so easy to post in the forum and you can easily use images taken with a smartphone, IPad or digital camera.  If you are photographing patients please no names of patients unless it is your personal pet and you choose to…

You must really love your job, or you are completely nuts.

It is 7 a.m. or so and you have just finished sling walking a 103 lb Labrador Retriever with vestibulitis through the snow, by yourself.  Your scrubs are torn up at the bottoms and soaked with water and mud, down to your socks.

The Battle of Thermopylae?

Battle of Thermopylae Is there a constant battle between your departments? Is it the technicians vs. the receptionists? Or maybe the receptionist vs. the doctors? Surgery vs ICU? The grass isn’t always greener.  Just because you are up to your elbows in blood, guts, and other lovely substances in the treatment area, doesn’t mean that…
