Thoracic Lung Mass Vs. Thymoma In An 11.5-Year-Old MN Shar Pei Mixed Breed: Our Case Of the Month June 2017

An 11.5-year-old, 67.5 lb, MN, Shar Pei mixed breed dog was presented for chronic nasal discharge that was unresponsive to doxycycline and getting slowly worse. He started having mild congestion 3 months prior. He had enlarged submandibular lymph nodes then, which have since resolved. Hx of chronic conjunctival chemosis and elevated third eyelids. CT – Recurrent soft tissue sarcoma expanding in to the olfactory bulbs and brain in a 11 year old FS Australian Shepherd mix

This 11 year old FS Australian Shepherd mix has a history of nasal/frontal sinus undifferentiated carcinoma; 3 months ago had aggressive debridement of mass and enucleation. Presented with severe congestion and difficulty breathing.

CT – Oral ameloblastoma of the left hemimandible in a 10 year old M Shih Tzu

This 10 year old M Shih Tzu has a unilateral nasal discharge, nasal stridor and decreased air flow on the right. ALT slightly elevated.

CT – Expansile nasal mass with possible metastases in a 10 year old FS DSH cat

Tnis 10 year old FS DSH cat has a two month history of sneezing and nasal congestion. Mass noted on rhinoscopy.

CT – Non-destructive rhinitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis and bilateral otitis media in a 10 year old Russian Blue cat

This 10 year old FS Russian Blue cat has a history of recurrent nasal and ear issues.

CT – Mild unspecific non-destructive rhinitis and sinusitis in a 6 year old MN Maine Coon cat with a history of sneezing

This 6 year old MN Maine Coon cat has a history of sneezing of one year duration; has been on multiple antibitoics, steroids and nebulizer treatments with little to no response. Presented for congested breathing

CT – Nasopharyngeal soft tissue mass, oronasal fistula and rhinitis in a 4 year old FS Schnauzer with periodontal disease

This 4 year old FS Schnauzer dog presented with congestion of 9 weeks duration. Other clinical signs include ataxia, running into walls, PU/PD, polyphagia and weight gain

CT – right and left sided nasal masses with secretory sinusitis in a 9 ear old FS mixed breed dog

RAD – Bilateral non-destructive rhinitis, viral or bacterial with normal pressure hydrocephalus in a 7 year old MN Terrier mix

CT and CYT – Nasal lymphoma with aggressive osteolysis and upper respiratory tract obstruction in a 7 year old MN Australian Shepherd
