Case Study

CT – Recurrent soft tissue sarcoma expanding in to the olfactory bulbs and brain in a 11 year old FS Australian Shepherd mix

DX

• Recurrent soft tissue sarcoma of the nose with generalized expansion of the tumor margins and infiltration of the olfactory bulbs and frontal lobes of the brain

Image Interpretation

CT of the head –

There is a recurrent soft tissue mass with increased expansion compared with the preoperative study dating 12/09/2015. Infiltrative growth of the non-uniformly enhancing mass under multifocal aggressive permeative osteolysis into the right orbita, cranial fossa, left nasal cavity, frontal sinuses and onto the dorsum of the nose and frontal bone is noted. The intracranial expansion involves the neural parenchyma of the left olfactory bulb and frontal lobe and causes rightsided deviation of the cerebral falx. The right olfactory bulb and frontal lobe present a mild increase in contrast enhancement as well.
