RAD – Pulmonary metastatic and chronic airway disease in a 10 year old MN mixed dog

This 10 year old MN mixed dog was found abandoned and presented with muffled heart sounds, grade 2/6 left systolic murmur, intermittent irregular arrythmia.  Physical exam: dehydrated, severe dental disease, intermittent left front lameness, severe hindlimb weakness, underweight, several large SQ masses with one ulcerated and necrotic. HCT 32%, hookworms.

Restrictive cardiomyopathy, left sided congestive heart failure, pleural effusion and pericardial effusion in a 18 year old MN DSH cat

An 18½-year-old MN DSH cat was presented for evaluation of dyspnea. Physical exam:  weight loss, poor skin turgor, dyspnea, muffled heart sounds, and decreased lung sounds. On survey thoracic radiographs, pleural effusion was present.

The patient is a canine Mastiff, male, 1 year old who was presented for surgery for the eye, however physical exam revealed muffled heart sounds. Radiographs revealed mass at the heart base. 

Lung lobe torsion in a 6 year old MN Collie dog

A 6-year-old neutered male Collie dog was presented for evaluation of a sudden onset of respiratory distress after a week of coughing. Pyrexia, tachypnea, and muffled heart sounds on the right were evident on physical examination. Survey thoracic radiographs showed pleural effusion and an ill-defined medial lung lobe consolidation. Leukocytosis was present on CBC. 

Cardiac mass, suspect hemangiosarcoma, with tamponade and pericardial effusion in a FS labrador mix dog

The patient is a FS canine Labrador cross, spayed female. No bloodwork was performed. The patient has dyspnea and hind limb ataxia. Physical exam only revealed muffled heart sounds and weak pulses. 

Cardiac Mass in Right Auricle with Tamponade in a 10 year old Rottweiler Dog

A 10-year-old SF Rottweiler cross was presented with a history of lethargy and not doing right. On physical examination depression and polypnea was evident. Abnormalities on serum biochemistry were elevated liver enzyme activity. Cardiomegaly was present on survey radiographs. Blood pressure was normal (140).

Granular lymphocytic lymphoma diagnosed by FNA of thoracic masses in a 4 year old MN DSH cat

A 4-year-old MN DSH was presented for being not himself lately. Abnormalities on physical examination were increased respiratory effort and bilateral muffled heart sounds on auscultation. CBC, blood chemistry, and FeLV/FIV assay were all within normal limits. Thoracic radiographs showed pleural effusion with opacification of the heart.
