Chronic Cholangiohepatitis in a 1-year-old FS Australian Shepherd Mix: Our Case of The Month June 2018

A 1-year-old, FS, Australian Shepherd mixed breed canine was presented for acute onset of collapse/dizziness. This was the first episode that the patient ever had; patient was BAR prior. Hepatomegaly was seen on radiographs. Blood chemistry showed an elevated ALT, CBC/UA were WNL. 4DX heartworm test was positive, Lepto test was negative.

CT – Metastatic lung disease noted in a 17 year old FS West Highland Terrier presented with neurological signs

This 17 year old FS West Highland Terrier has a history of CRF (iris stage 4). Presented two weeks ago with rear limb ataxia; focal seizures began two days ago and presented to the hospital non- responsive. PE: dull, minimally responsive, sever neck pain on lateral and vertical movement. CBC/Chem: Crea 6.5, BUN elevated

RAD – Congenital transitional vertebrae at the thoracolumbar and lumbosacral transitions in a 5 year old MN DLH cat

This 5 year old MN DLH cat presented for non weight bearing on both hind legs. Exam showed generalized weakness and ataxia in hind limbs on ambulation, no lameness noted. No pain noted. Hind limbs are warm. Mild crossing over of hind limbs when walking, cutaneous trunci present. CP present. 

CT – T12/13 disc extrusion with severe compressive meylopathy and foraminal stenosis in a 7 year old MN Dachshund

This 7 year old MN Dachshund initially presented with slight ataxia hind limbs, progressing to paraplegia over the following 2 days. CP absent, withdrawal with deep pain.

CT – Negative for portosystemic shunt in a 4 month old MN Chihuahua with neurological signs

This 4 month old MN Chihuahua presented with impaired balance, abnormal gait, falling to the side Physical exam: circling to the left, ataxia, hypermetria of pelvic limbs CBC/Chem: lymphocytes incr, neutrophils decr, TP 5.1, glucose 127, Phos 7.4   R/O liver shunt

CT – Severe disc extrusion with moderate compressive myelopathy in a 5 year old MN Boxer

This 5 year old MN Boxer presented with severe cervical pain, paresis of right front, ataxia all 4 limbs, low head carriage.

RAD – Thoracic metastases check negative in a 14 year old MN Siberian Husky with abdominal mass and seizures

This 14 year old Siberian Husky dog has a history of grand mal seizures of one yar duration. Presented with focal seizures. Large growth noted on the abdomen Physical exam: Presented laterally recumbant. Acute ataxia with nystagmus and head tilt CBC/CHem: HCT 32%, Ca low Looking for mets

CT – Extradural mass lesion at C6/7 with lateralized disc extrusion in a 11 year old MN Dachshund

This 11 year old MN Dachshund dog presented 2 weeks prior with inability to close mouth, swollen submandibular lymph nodes or salivary glands and weakness/ataxia. Signs resolved with clindamycin and meloxicam. Patient then presented with left forelimb weakness to left lateralizing tetraparesis.
