Thoracic Lung Mass Vs. Thymoma In An 11.5-Year-Old MN Shar Pei Mixed Breed: Our Case Of the Month June 2017

An 11.5-year-old, 67.5 lb, MN, Shar Pei mixed breed dog was presented for chronic nasal discharge that was unresponsive to doxycycline and getting slowly worse. He started having mild congestion 3 months prior. He had enlarged submandibular lymph nodes then, which have since resolved. Hx of chronic conjunctival chemosis and elevated third eyelids. A 7-year-old male neutered Corgi with a history of lameness and osteoarthritis was presented for evaluation of a cavitated mass on the front leg with prescapular lymphadenomegaly.

Lymphoma in a 4 year old FS Labrador Retriever mix dog

A 4-year-old FS Labrador cross was presented for evaluation of swollen popliteal and sublumbar lymph nodes. Abnormalities on CBC and serum biochemistry were thrombocytopenia, eosinophilia, elevated creatinine and elevated globulins.

Splenic lymphoma in a 6 year old MN Beagle mix dog

A 6 year old MN beagle mix was presented for evaluation of generalized lymphadenomegaly, which had been diagnosed as lymphoma on fine-needle aspirate and cytology. Abnormalities on serum biochemistry included dehydration, elevated ALP activity, and hypercalcemia.

Lymphoma in a 3 year old FS Rhodesian Ridgeback

A 3-year-old FS Rhodesian Ridgeback was presented for the evaluation of enlarged lymph nodes of 3 weeks’ duration. Generalized lymphadenopathy was present on physical examination. The serum chemistry showed hyperglobulinemia, and thrombocytopenia was present on the CBC. Thoracic radiographs did not show any signs of lymphadenopathy or any lesions consistent with neoplasia.
