This 8 year old MN DSH cat presented with a 6 day duration of anorexia, some vomiting. Radiographs revealed a density in the mid ventral abdomen and abnormal ileocecal gas pattern.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Thread or similar intestinal foreign body pattern with accordion pleating and emerging peritonitis. Obstructive pattern.

Image Interpretation

The stomach was filled with fluid. Intestinal thickening was noted with reactive surrounding mesentery and variable intestinal thickening with a tethered type contour with an obstructive pattern. Adhesions appeared to be present.   Linear structures such as thread or similar was noted in the small intestine with accordion pleating.

Immediate exploratory surgery recommended
