Bladder Mass

Sonopath Forum

Amber is a 15 year old feline that came in to the clinic with classical symptoms of idiopathic cystitis. Dysuria, poilakuria, and stranguria. The bladder felt firm.

Urine was submitted. When my associate placed the probe on the bladder she saw the entire bladder was filled with a “mass”.

Urinalysis was submitted for a UA and Cytology. Looking for signs of TCC. Findings on the cytology were lots of lymphocytes and some plasma cells. No signs of TCC. Lymphocytes looked reactive.

I did an entire ultrasound yesterday and I would like your opinion.

The mass noted in the bladder – neoplastic? Organized Clott?

There were also many cystic changes noted throughout the liver. Polycystic disease? Cystadenoma? Neoplasia?

Normally I would submit this for a Telemed consult- but the owners are on a budget.

Thanks

I was reviewing the cines and

I was reviewing the cines and the last cine looks like I may have missed a possible urethral mass.

Any comments would be appreciated.

live ris consistent wiht

live ris consistent wiht cystadenoma but the bladder is surely a mass and starting in th eurethra wiht regional inflammation form the transmural penetration of th emass. 15 year old cats typically dont get idiopathioc or interstitial cystitis unless its been the case their whole lives as idiopathic cystitis is a young to middle age disease. This one has multple reasons to be TCC or bladder lsa regarding echotexture, transmural penetration and age or cat.

Thanks EL. This is what I thought- but 1 UA and I did a FNA was not diagnostic.

I will notify the owner.

With the large number of

With the large number of lymphocytes, would be suspicious for bladder lymphoma. Considered doing a catheter-assisted biopsy/aspirate of the mass as it would be more diagnostic.
