What is this artifact, settings?

Hello,

Didn’t see this before. What is this ?If you look closelly distal to probe there are speckles and when I use CFM was looking like twinkle artefact but on vessels ?  Next study I had no problems. It looks like snowing….which goes well with our winter:)

Thank you

PS : Also if somebody can look and comment on “Cat with Splenic and Liver Mass” would be greatelly appreciated.

I am certainly not an expert

I am certainly not an expert on ultrasound artifact, but it looks to me like some sort of refraction or attenuation of the sound wave causing this artifact. I went back to my early ultrasound modules and pulled up a picture that sort of indicates this artifact when the beam encounters a difference in tissue density going through an effusion. Sorry- best I can offer. It certainly does not interfere with the quality of your study (that was a compliment).

In my picuture the artifact is a bit brighter than the effusion but as you follow it further from the probe it shadows. Difference in accoustical impedance.

Not sure if the mass is associated with the liver on the poor cat. I would have bet on some sort of carcinoma or granulomatous disease like FIP.

Thank you Randy. I also hope
Thank you Randy. I also hope this is an artifact and not a problem with machine,… But I never seen in the last 5 years only in ” starwars movie”

I m curious if anybody else seen this

If it was the machine- would

If it was the machine- would you not expect to see the artifact on follow up studies?

That’s a new one for me does

That’s a new one for me does it do it on every image or only intermittently?

I ve seen this only on one
I ve seen this only on one study. Was a cat and changing probes didn t help.

I get this artefact often

I get this artefact often with My lab Alpha.

I suspect is somehow related to current changes, I usually disconect it from the charger and it goes away. This artefact is even worse with doppler, as you can’t do any CFM.

I have a an extra current stabilizer in the socket for the US machine, but it doesn’t seem to help….. I thinck these new machines are much more prone to artefacts then my last ones…..

That makes sense. If it
That makes sense. If it happens again I ll disconect from power and go on batery to confirm. Thank you calinca

It may have just been

It may have just been electrical interference as well. i forgot about that but just saw somethign silmilar happen when instructiing this weekend with a seimens machine. Since you have an esaote feel free to ask the cuattro guys by clicking on the banner above and they may be able to help.
