Splenic nodule

Sonopath Forum

I was doing a routine scan and came accross this splenic nodule.

My questions:

1. This is a nodule?

2. Would you be concerned enough to aspirate this nodule right away or wait and rescan in 30 days?

It is a nodule and loses

It is a nodule and loses architectural detail as well as has capsular expansion. Both of these factors in my book merit a needle or direct removal especially capsular expansion. I never wait more than 10-14 days on splenic nodules when they look somewhat aggressive because if it is HSA it may move fast. I documented nodule to multiple modules/masses to hemopericardium in 21 days in an HSA dog so when it moves it moves fast. If HSA then fna likely will be non diagnostic. If it expands on the capsule get it out. If it loses internal curvilinear patterns fna and watch on followup for growth… if growing, get it out regardless of cytology results. That’s how I play the splenic nodule game:)
