Hello

This is Zeus a 6 year old Doberman that is a staff pet. Recently heard a grade 2 murmur that was apparently not present previously. Dog is clinically doing well and xrays showed no obvious abnormalities in the chest.

The US was mostly normal with all chamber and wall sizes being very normal relative to the reference values.

The only place that we could possibly isolate the murmur was to the aortic valves.

The aorta looks odd to me and I am hoping for some advice on wether this is a case of subaortic stenosis? I believe that the murmur increases in intensity when we get Zeus excited but an associate does not feel that way. I have very little experience with congenital diseases so was hoping for some input.

Thanks. Brent

The AV doesnt look bad to me.

The AV doesnt look bad to me. A lot of these murmurs have no visible morphological chenges but you need the doppler to find them both CF, pw and cw ideally with phased array probe an dalso its essential to be lined up within 15 degrees of flow and you are about 45 degrees in your images. The sdep echo download explains all this in straightforward fashion to self teahc in clinic. Sounds like you need to do a full doppler exam like the sdep echo protocol download is here:

I use the audible murmur hunt for velocities of > 2 -2.5 m/sec in dogs but usually much higher.

We have 2 echo events schedule din 2017. Minilab next month after sdep abdomen in sarasota that is just sdep scanning then a full echo lecture/lab with mandi klemen dacvim cardiology in denver in october.

Hope this helps
