Hi all,
9 year old male neutered malteseX with prostatic changes. He had an ultrasound in march2014 where a mildly enlarged prostate size and multifocal calcified areas was observed. Prostatic neoplasia was suspected. He has ongoing hypothyroidism which is being treated with thyroxine.
Hi all,

A repeated ultrasound of the prostate was done last week and size has remained similar but now presents with hyperechoic striations and hyperechoic foci. There is no distal acoustic shadowing or paraprostatic cysts observed. Patient is not showing any clinical signs of dysuria or polikiuria. His recent urinalysis showed the presence of calcium oxalate crystals.
All my research on echogenic changes in prostate in neutered males are pointing towards neoplasia but im not convinced it is. Can the presence of calcium oxalate crystalluria or urolithiasis cause this?
