PREGNANCY TOXEMIA

Sonopath Forum

this is a 5 years old chihuahua that developed preganancy toxemia and had an emergency C-section at ~ 59-60 days of pregnancy. Pups are preterm but doing good. She doesn’t have enough milk to nurse and barelly eating. Not really improving after 3 days post C-section despite being treated (dextrose fluids,  ampicillin sulbactum, metoclopramide, mirtazipine, Cagluconate, Oxytocin,  feeding, etc)

On US the stomach wall shows mild thickening and uterus is enlarged but no other findings. Is this a retained placenta? I know should not be an issue in dogs but ideal should be accounted for at the time of C-section.

Retained placenta or end

Retained placenta or end stage fetus…when it gets to this point tough to tell. Needs clean out or ovh and abs/supportive care.
