This may be a good question for Peter as I know he is familiar with Esaote but please feel free for anyone to comment. I demo-ed a MyLab ALpha today and was quite impressed with the cardiac images. Can’t remember the name of the probes I used but they are not compatible with my MyLab 50 (different port).

A CA123 like probe is suppose to be available in Decemeber for it to see if this machine will also be good for abdominal scanning. I am thinking of getting a portable machine as I now have two clinics and also would like to do some mobile work. Also looked at the My Lab 30 and was quite happy with it.
Have you had any experience with the MyLab Alpha?

I tested the mylab alpha

I tested the mylab alpha for Esaote. It´s an excellent cardiac machine, makes batter images than the mylab 70. Also the Doppler, especially the color Doppler, is really good. The PA probe is very small what makes it very useful (easy to get between the ribs). THere is a new micro-convex probe available for abdominal scans (smaller than the CA123), but unfortunately they don´t offer a linear probe (they will hopefully develop one since that´s really important for cats and small dogs). The quality of abdominal scanning is comparable to the mylab 30, means it´s definitely lower than in the 50 or 70. I also told them that the monitor should be non-reflecting.
Summarizing: An excellent cardiac and an average abdominal machine
