Gastric Ulcers

Sonopath Forum

This was a good case for forums so I thought, I will upload it here. Start, a 5-year-old-male persian cross was presented with acute onset of hematemesis in emergency. Abdominal ultrasound showed multiple gastric ulcers and echogenic peritoneal effusion.A mass like structure was seen in the gastric lumen.  Exploratory laparotomy was done and the tow perforating gastric ulcers were excised.During surgery, it was noticed that the mass like structure was a big blood clot. The excised lesions were submitted histopathological evaluation and came back as just necrosis of the gastric wall with not evidence of neoplastic invasion. The cat made a full recovery following surgery and is doing great currently. There is history of meloxicam administration in another clinic about a week ago
