Image Interpretation

RADS- left lateral, right lateral and VD abdomen. Osseous structures: Within normal limits.
Extraabdominal soft tissue structures: The caudal vena cava and the pulmonary
vasculature was thin. The remainder of the extraabdominal soft tissues was within normal limits.
Intraabdominal structures: The serosal detail was normal. The liver and spleen were within normal limits. The urinary tract was within normal limits. The stomach was moderately distended with gas. There also was a mild amount of uniformly shaped soft tissue opaque material in the gravity dependent portion of the stomach. The fundic wall presented a mildly roughened mucosal surface. The small intestinal loops were non-dilated and of even diameter. There was a moderate amount of gas within the small intestine and several loops presented spasticity. The cecum and colon contained a moderate amount of fecal matter and gas.

DX

Gastroenteritis

Outcome

There was no radiographic sign of a complete mechanical obstruction nor a radio
opaque foreign body. A subileus cannot be ruled out.
For further work up ultrasound of the abdomen is recommended to verify the suspicion
of inflammatory gastrointestinal disease and rule out other causes for vomiting.
