Image Interpretation

Rad study of thorax: mild bronchial pattern with peribronchial cuffing emphasized in the caudodorsal aspects of the lung. The cardiac silhouette occupied 2.5 intercostal spaces in width and 60% of the thoracic height. The caudal vena cava was thin. No other abnormalities were noted regarding the heart, major vessels and pulmonary vessels. The trachea was within normal limits. The visible parts of the larynx were within normal limits. The gastric fundus was contracted. The gastric body contained a mild amount of soft tissue opaque material (likely food). There was a symmetrical thoracolumbar transitional vertebra noted as an incidental finding.

DX

Bronchitis, R/O lungworm infection vs viral vs bacterial vs allergy. Hypovolemia and microcardia were present as a function of the underlying disease

Outcome

Lung worm infection should be ruled out by laboratory testing. If symptomatic treatment does not result in remission of the clinical findings, bronchoscopy with bronchioalveolar lavage is advised.
