The patient is a 7 year old, spayed female ferret which presented for weight loss and a palpable abdominal mass.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Multiple pancreatic masses with probable hepatic metastatic disease. Concurrent splenic mass.
Multicentric neoplasia is suspected.

Image Interpretation

The liver was coarse in architecture with increased portal markings. Micronodular changes were noted and may represent metastatic disease. Multiple pancreatic masses were noted with complex, mixed, nodular changes and expansive contour. A left medial liver mass was also noted with similar echogenicity as that of the pancreatic masses. The spleen presented a mass with target type appearance measuring 1.45 x 1.0 cm. Generalized splenic enlargement was also noted.

DX

Multicentric neoplasia is likely.

Outcome

None

Clinical Differential Diagnosis

Lymphoma, splenic mass, liver mass, adrenal mass or other neoplasia.

Sampling

FNA of the splenic nodule, liver nodule and pancreatic mass were recommended for further definition. However, no aspirates were taken.
