ORTHO – Normal shoulder musculature and rotator cuff in a 14 year old FS Yorkshire Terrier with forelimb lameness

This 14 year old FS Yorkshire Terrier has a history of chronic forelimb lameness of over one year duration. No known associated trauma. Bilateral ebow abduction. Right shoulder non-specific pain on ROM. Bilaeral mild pelvic limb and right peri-scapular atrophy.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Ultrasound of the right and left shoulders show within normal limits

DX

The ultrasonographic examination of the right & left shoulder musculature and rotator cuff is within normal limits

Outcome

At this point no evidence of pathology in the right
shoulder rotator cuff was found. Consider other pathology such as myelopathy or
pathology within the brachial plexus or distal limb as possible underlying causes of the
clinical presentation.
