Liver Mass in a 13 year old FS Lhasa Apso dog

A 13-year-old FS Lhasa Apso dog with a history of lethargy, coughing, and pancreatitis was presented for increase in vomiting and diarrhea that had been present for the past 2-3 days. Abnormalities on CBC and serum biochemistry were thrombocytosis, severely elevated ALP (2000) and severely elevated GGT (781), and elevated ALT (235) activity.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Resectable left lateral liver mass. Suspect hepatocellular carcinoma or other carcinoma. This appears localized.

Image Interpretation

The liver in this patient was largely normal except for an 8 cm mixed, hypoechoic and hyperechoic mass with capsular expansion and anechoic cystic or abscess presentation. This is connected to the left lateral lobe and appears to be resectable
