This 9 year old M Cairn Terrier dog has a history of chronic vomiting, pancreatitis and splenic nodule (splenectomy performed 1/2016); Dx: benign hyperplasia.ALKP 659

DX

Gastric mass or mural abscess; surgical intervention is recommended. Mild bilateral adrenal hypertrophy. Concurrent chronic active pancreatitis.

Image Interpretation

The greater curvature of the stomach in this patient presented persistent necrosis or abscess measuring 2.6 cm with pericapsular inflammatory pattern impinging upon the pancreas consistent with mural abscess or possible mass. Surgical removal is recommended. Ultrasound guided drainage could be considered; however, given that this occupies the muscularis layer and minor compromised serosal layer is also noted surgical intervention is recommended.

Adjacent lymph node is also slightly enlarged 0.5 cm.

Right base of the pancreas was enlarged with hyperechoic surrounding fat suggestive for inflammation. Chronic active pancreatitis is suspected.

Outcome

Surgical intervention is recommended.
