A 4-year-old NM Maine Coon was presented for evaluation of tachycardia, irregular heart rate, and respiratory distress.

A 4-year-old NM Maine Coon was presented for evaluation of tachycardia, irregular heart rate, and respiratory distress.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

This is most consistent with dilated cardiomyopathy with right and left sided congestive heart failure and secondary tachyarrhythmia.

Image Interpretation

This exam was performed in a rapid manner as respiratory distress and severe congestive heart failure in the left and right heart. Tachyarrhythmia was noted with severe left and right atrial enlargement. Left ventricular dilation and poor contractility was noted. A mild amount of pleural effusion was noted.

DX

Dilated cardiomyopathy with right and left sided congestive heart failure and secondary tachyarrhythmia.

Outcome

The patient passed away.
