Image Interpretation

CT of the nose –

Mild nasal septal deviation is noted and considered incidental. A mild amount of irregular shaped solid soft tissue attenuating material is seen within the right nares, which is consistent with the crusty material reported in the history.

DX

The CT reveals normal findings within the nasal cavities

Outcome

There is no evidence of destructive or non-destructive rhinitis. The most likely underlying cause
of the nasal discharge is mild acute viral/parasitic rhinitis. The odds of relevant
bacterial or other superinfection are considered very low. Consider empirical
treatment.
