Image Interpretation

CT of the upper neck, plain and post contrast series- the patient was scanned with an endotracheal tube in place.
There was moderate generalized swelling of the laryngeal soft tissues including the vocal folds, accompanied by mucosal surface irregularity and mildly increased non uniform contrast enhancement.
A mild amount of air was present within the vestibule and laryngeal ventricles.
Both tonsils were everted and presented moderate generalized enlargement and non uniform contrast enhancement.
The medial retropharyngeal and submandibular lymph nodes were within normal limits for size, shape and enhancement pattern.

DX

The findings are compatible with laryngitis and tonsillitis. Part of the findings may be attributable to the diagnostic procedures enforced before. There was no sign specific for a neoplastic infiltrate and no regional lymphadenopathy. Mid left-sided incidental omarthrosis was noted.
