Splenic mass. Pleural effusion. Concurrent, polypoid right auricular mass without pericardial effusion. Given the thoracic pathology splenectomy is not recommended in this case. Treatment of quality of life is warranted.
The spleen presented a 6.1 cm, mixed, hyperechoic and mildly complex mass. The splenic mass appeared isolated to the cranial pole. The right atrium revealed a polypoid nodule at the right auricle. This is strongly suspicious for concurrent hemangiosarcoma given the splenic presentation. However, other possibilities include attached blood clot. This measured 1.26 x 0.93 cm. No pericardial effusion was noted.
