Paraprostatic cyst

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Large, paraprostatic cyst. This does not appear neoplastic.
Mild chronic cystitis pattern.

Image Interpretation

The urinary bladder was slightly thickened with a minor cystitis pattern.
The caudal abdomen revealed an 8 x 12 cm, echogenic, paraprostatic cyst deviating the urinary bladder, which was slightly thickened. This was continuous with the prostate and bordered by the prostatic capsule. This does not appear neoplastic and may be infected given the echogenic debris. The prostate itself presented areas of mineralization and nodules consistent with prostatitis.
