 An 11-year-old intact female English setter was presented for evaluation of anorexia. Leukocytosis with neutrophilia and Dohle bodies was evident on CBC.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Pyometra given the toxic white cell count and severe dilation of the uterus. Immediate ovariohysterectomy is recommended.

Image Interpretation

The uterus in this patient was severely dilated with echogenic fluid consistent with mucometra or pyometra measuring 4 cm in width. The ovaries were unremarkable.
