A 5-year-old SF DSH cat was presented for evaluation of anorexia, hindquarter ataxia, and distended stomach.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Pancreatic mass, likely carcinoma with coalesced mesentery changes. This is suggestive for metastatic disease. Neoplastic effusion is the most likely explanation for the fluid. Sampling with cytospin could be performed for definitive diagnosis.

Image Interpretation

The pancreas was enveloped by nodular omentum with hypoechoic, irregular, pancreatic parenchyma. This is strongly suggestive for pancreatic carcinoma with carcinomatosis type presentation. The peritoneal space is predominantly filled with fluid.
