IBD gastrointestinal pattern elsewhere.
Intraoperative ultrasound and subtotal colectomy is recommended in this patient. Primary differentials include granulomatous colitis with stricture, colonic lymphoma, colonic carcinoma. There was no overt evidence of metastatic disease.

Image Interpretation

The stomach was unremarkable. The upper gastrointestinal tract was unremarkable with minor increase in submucosal echogenicity. The intestinal wall thickening measured 0.6 cm with loss of detail. A portion of stricturing and thickened colon was noted in this patient with an obstructive pattern. Hyperechoic, surrounding fat was noted. This is consistent with regional inflammation. The descending colon was unremarkable.
