An 8-year-old NM DLH with a history of weight loss and anorexia was presented for evaluation of a mid-abdominal mass.

An 8-year-old NM DLH with a history of weight loss and anorexia was presented for evaluation of a mid-abdominal mass.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Mesenteric root lymphadenopathy.
FNAs of the lymph nodes were performed without complication.

Image Interpretation

A mass was noted measuring 3.2 x 5.53 cm with hyperechoic surrounding fat. The mass was comprised of mesenteric root or jejunal lymph nodes. The mass compressed the mesenteric artery. FNA +/- PARR evaluation for lymphoma is recommended.

DX

The mass in the midabdomen was sampled and revealed mast cells.

Outcome

The patient is now on Prednisone and Leukeran orally.
