The patient is a feline DSH, NM, 8 years. Patient weighed 11.8 lbs. Patient had a history of anorexia for 2 days with vomiting and possible ingestion of an artificial house plant. Blood work is currently pending.

The patient is a feline DSH, NM, 8 years. Patient weighed 11.8 lbs. Patient had a history of anorexia for 2 days with vomiting and possible ingestion of an artificial house plant. Blood work is currently pending.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Foreign object within the jejunum. Thickened sub-mucosal layer throughout the remainder of the small intestine – suspect underlying inflammatory disease.

Image Interpretation

Examination of the gastrointestinal tract revealed a suspected foreign object in the jejunum. Far field shadowing was noted. The remainder of the small intestine had echogenic ingesta distended within the lumen. A thickened sub-mucosal layer was seen throughout the remainder of the gastrointestinal tract.

Clinical Differential Diagnosis

FB, gastroentertitis, toxin, pancreatitis, neoplasia

Sampling

Biopsy revealed mild neutrophilic enteritis with congestion and edema. Intestinal wall sample was positive for E coli.
