BPH vs. prostatitis in an 8 month old MI Bernese Mountain dog?

This pup initially was passing sticks he had eaten and was crying during defecation. He no longer has access to sticks, but continues to cry during/after defecation most times (bowel movements now soft). Has been going on several weeks. Only ultrasound abnormality was his prostate was very hyperechoic. It was homogenous, no cystic regions and no reaction during exam (too large of a patient to adequately palpate the prostate on rectal). He is not neutered yet, but just thought is was strange to have the increased echogenicity in such a young dog. Thoughts?

Prostate isnt big as the desc colon is linear and not deviated. With some imagination maybe I can see some edema lines but young animal fat has more through transmission than older animals owing to higher body water content so the increased echogenicity of the prostate i think is normal physics here. I would rectal palate to see if any pain on the prostate.
