A 16-year-old NM Golden Retriever was presented for evaluation of progressive weight loss over the last year. Physical examination, urinalysis, CBC, and serum biochemistry were all within normal limits.

Proximal colonic, obstructive mass.
There was no evidence of metastatic disease or regional lymphadenopathy. Differentials include round cell neoplasia such as lymphoma, leiomyosarcoma, adenocarcinoma with a minor potential for granulomatous disease. Concurrent pyloric hypertrophy.
A stricturing mass was noted in the proximal colon and measured 2.0 cm in width x 4.0 cm in length and appeared to be obstructive. Stool impaction was noted prior to the lesion. No overt evidence of metastatic disease.
