Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) is the most common primary tumor of the urinary bladder in cats. Other differentials include squamous cell carcinoma, leiomyosarcoma, leiomyoma, and rhabdomyosarcoma or benign bladder polyp.

Image Interpretation

There is a mass that appears to be extending out from the trigone region measuring 2.4 cm x 1.35 cm and taking up at least 50% of the bladder lumen. The mass appears circular in shape, with heterogeneous hypoechoic echogenicity and focal mineralized areas that create partial acoustic shadowing.
