Urethral mass in a 13 year old FS Korean Jindo dog

The patient is a spayed female Korean Jindo dog, who was presented because she is straining to urinate. Urinalysis showed a urine specific gravity of 1.059, pH 6.0, 2+ protein, 3+ blood, 4-10 white cells, and 21-50 red cells.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Urethral mass. There was no overt evidence of metastatic disease.

Image Interpretation

The urinary bladder presented a urethra and trigonal mass. The mass was significantly mineralizing and extended at least 4.0 cm into the pelvic urethra caudal to the cystourethral junction. A periserosal inflammatory pattern was also noted around the urethra. The iliac bifurcation did not contain any evident pathology.

Ultrasound-guided laser ablation would be recommended in this case.
