The patient is a FS canine Labrador cross, spayed female. No bloodwork was performed. The patient has dyspnea and hind limb ataxia. Physical exam only revealed muffled heart sounds and weak pulses.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Cardiac neoplasia with tamponade. Suspect hemangiosarcoma.

Image Interpretation

A 4 cm mildly echogenic cardiac mass is noted at the right auricular/right ventricular free wall junction. Severe pericardial effusion is present and tamponade.

DX

Cardiac neoplasia with tamponade. Suspect hemangiosarcoma.

Outcome

Patient euthanized by owner request.
