Pyloric Foreign Body in a 5-year-old FS Weimaraner dog
Sonographic Differential Diagnosis
Pyloric mass or sound transmitting foreign matter.
Image Interpretation
Minor increased echogenicity of the submucosal layer and mucosal hypertrophy.The stomach in this patient presented mural hypertrophy and hyperperistalsis with retention of echogenic fluid. The pylorus appeared free of evident pathology other than muscular hypertrophy. Minor increased echogenicity of the submucosal layer and mucosal hypertrophy. Isoechoic to hypoechoic material was noted in the pyloric outflow and measured 4.0 cm with through transmission of the ultrasound beam.

Outcome
An endoscopy was performed and a ball was found in the pylorus.
Comments
Exploratory surgery can be performed. Guarded prognosis.

chronic vomiting – IBD, gastritis/helicobacter, primary/secondary pyloric stenosis, neoplasia, chronic foreign body, parasites, GDV.
