Mesenteric Root Mass in a 10 year old MN DSH cat

A 10-year-old NM DSH was presented for evaluation of lethargy and an abdominal mass. Abnormalities on bloodwork were mildly elevated CK and mild hyperglycemia.

A 10-year-old NM DSH was presented for evaluation of lethargy and an abdominal mass. Abnormalities on bloodwork were mildly elevated CK and mild hyperglycemia.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Most likely biliary cyst adenoma. . The origin of the mass could not be determined, but is likely pancreatic or bile duct origin.

Image Interpretation

There was a mass effect coming off of the caudal liver. The mass was made up of numerous cysts of various sizes and measured 7.5 x 4.5 cm. The gallbladder presented thin walls with normal primarily anechoic content. The cystic and common bile ducts were normal.

DX

At the root of the mesentery: mass with purulent fluid, mass was not resectable.

Comments

Surgical removal and histopathology of the mass is recommended

Sampling

Surgery was performed and found root of mesentery mass with purulent fluid; mass was not resectable.
