Mitral valve prolapse. Mild left atrial enlargement. Severe mitral insufficiency.
The echocardiogram for this patient presented left atrial enlargement. No evidence of stroke or thrombotic activity was noted. The atrial septum was deviated toward the right atrium without evidence of dilation or contraction. The cranial and caudal mitral valve leaflets demonstrated mildly vegetative contour. Prolapse of the anterior leaflet was noted. Mitral insufficiency velocity was 6.7 m/sec. Mitral insufficiency velocity 6.7 m/sec. Blood pressure 214/178.
Recommend primary treatment for hypertension in this patient in addition to ace inhibitor therapy. Target systolic blood pressure is less than 160.
