Gastric foreign body in a 10 year old MN DSH cat
Sonographic Differential Diagnosis
One or more gastric foreign bodies with suspect resultant gastritis.
Image Interpretation
The first image demonstrates a partially shadowing luminal gastric foreign material with indistinct borders within the pyloric antrum. The second image reveals a large, fairly well-circumscribed, strongly shadowing luminal foreign body within the fundus of the stomach. Mild gastric wall thickening is suggested, most notably within the pyloric region; however, normally discernible wall layering is maintained

Outcome
The patient responded well postoperatively and demonstrated increased energy and appetite.
Clinical Differential Diagnosis
GI pathology – acute or chronic foreign body, trichobezoar, IBD, neoplasia; pancreatic pathology – pancreatitis; sequestrum
Sampling
Gastrotomy revealed an 8 cm hard ball of string and Christmas ribbon.
