Scanning a Macaw

Hi all, one of my colleagues has a poorly, 20 year old approx, male ( we think) Macaw, “only seeds” diet, and we would like to scan him for more info.
I will rescue my notes from my ESAVS course but wondering if I could get any extra info if anyone in the forum is familiar with avian scanning. If not, but someone knows where to find out more, I’d be very grateful.
We are planning the scan for this coming Friday.
Apparently, Celoma effusion. Bloods pending as we are having problems sending to idexx.
Thank you for any input.

We read bird scans at

We read bird scans at sonopath telemed fyi.

Steve Pokorny DACVR at northwest imaging has a lot of experience as well with exotics and you can send to him through northwestimaging.com.

I just use the mircoconvex and separate the feathers til I get ti the skin and gel up and take a couple of windows that way and use really wide angles. Ascites in an older macaw may be malutrition, cirrhosis or neoplasia usually in that scenario.

Thank you, EL. So good to know. This is my colleague’s dad’s Macaw, so she may actually go to have the scan sent for telemed. I will only have 1 chance at the scan. Just want to make sure I take all planes necessary. We suspect hepatic disease due to diet. I’ll try and get good clips of heart, too. The Macaw is not that old, 20yold. Suspected male. I just searched on vin for ultrasound images and found some echocardio video. But nothing else. Any idea where to find some images ?:)
Thank you for your help.
