Ok, so I am not an ultrasonographer, but I’d sure like to be one someday. Occasionally I am allowed the opportunity to scan at my clinic solely for my own interest and a black hole thirst for knowledge.
A 16-year-old FS DSH cat was presented for PTS.
The patient had a history of PU/PD, inappropriate urinations in the house, and was obese.
A diagnostic work-up was offered but declined. Kidney disease and diabetes were suspected.

Upon post-mortem examination a firm underbelly was felt, but due to the large size of the cat, nothing more was palpable.
An ultrasound of the patient’s abdomen revealed a cystic-like structure in the spleen/liver?

A 1.5 inch 22 gauge FNA of the area revealed completely clear fluid.
Necropsy found an incredibly cystic splenic tumor.
Wow! Weighed about 2.5- 3lbs. I certainly didn’t expect to find this.

Thanks Catlady. The poor cat
Thanks Catlady. The poor cat though. I can’t imagine trying to walk around with that in your abdomen.
