Hello, these are some videos of my cat.  He is a 16 yo MN DSH.  He has been progressively vomiting more over the past 6 months to year.  His water consumption has also been increasing, especially over the last few months.  He is eating well, and maintaining his weight ok.  I obtained bloodwork last month, and his BUN was 51, and Creatinine 3.5.  Specific gravity 1.019.  Everything else is wnl.

He vomited about 5 or so times a few days ago, so I attempted a quick ultrasound.  I really did not want to stress him out…or give a sedative.  I did a very quick/minimal scan.  I was able to save some of his left kidney videos, and the architecture and size are concerning to me.  I was just trying to see if he might have a concurrent issue such as IBD….but didn’t really get to that point with a scan since he was nervous, and me too.

I’m debating adding a little prednisone to his every few days cerenia I am giving him.  Just seems like a lot of vomiting for a cat that is eating well….I feel I can’t blame it all on his azotemia.

I am just posting these left kidney views….I never quite got to the right kidney.

What do you all think about how his left kidney looks like?

Thanks

Chronic dystrophy with

Chronic dystrophy with interstitial nephrosis pattern, cortical infarcts and calculi subjectively  end stage. Can certainly justify the gi signs with that azotemia. I would push a renal fluid protocol for 72 hours and reassess but the kidneys dont inspire me long term unfortunately.
