Hi everyone,
I’m scratching my head on this cat’s liver and was hoping to get some insights from the experts!:)
13 year old DSH male neutered cat was presented for vomiting. Blood work showed mild azotaemia but otherwise unremarkable. There was no elevation of liver enzymes.
Ultrasound performed showed a
1. Small right kidney and large left kidney,
2. Prominent muscularis layering of the jejunal and ileum segments with thickened wall.
3. The gall bladder had a small amount of sludge in it slumen.

4.** There were multiple hyperechoic linear strands within the hepatic parenchyma.
**Has anyone seen these changes in a cat before? Are they significant? I was thinking some sort of parasites like a hepatic fluke which also replicate in the intestines and was wondering if the changes in the small intestinal tract are related?
Thank you in advance for you help!

Lobar biliary stones…
Lobar biliary stones… usually secondary to inflammatory hepatopathy past or present… hypertrophied muscularis on the intestine too likely a triad cat. I have seen actigal on some cats make all the mineralization dissappear and in others it does nothing so its a crap shoot. Kidneys have interstitial nephrosis pattern but not bad for a 13 year old.
Ahh yes… that’s what it
