Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Left limb pancreatic necrosis and possible carcinoma or abscessation. Chronic active pancreatitis presentation in the left pancreatic limb. Fine-needle aspirates are warranted.

Image Interpretation

The pancreas was prominent and irregular. Deviated and dilated pancreatic duct was noted. This is consistent with low grade chronic active inflammation. Focal areas of remodeling of the pancreas were noted as well as irregular, reactive appearing omentum.

DX

Pancreatitis.

Outcome

The patient is being treated for severe pancreatitis and is gradually getting better.

Clinical Differential Diagnosis

Pancreas – pancreatitis, neoplasia, abscessation. G.I. clinical signs- gastric/duodenal obstruction (foreign body/neoplasia), perforation, infarction. Focal peritonitis.

Sampling

None.
