CT – Chronic alveolis oronasal fistula with destructive rhinitis, severe periodontal disease in a 12 year old MN DSH cat

This 12 year old MN DSH cat has a history of chronic airway disease. Respiratory stridor, no visual sign of nasopharyngeal polyp.

Image Interpretation

CT of the head –

Multiple teeth are absent. The remaining teeth present extensive FOR lesions, advanced tooth root resorption and marked periodontal disease. The triadan 104 remnants are fragmented and impacted within a severely widened alveole. There is an open tract between the alveole and the nasal cavity. The overlying nasal turbinates are destructed. There is a soft tissue swelling covering the defect and a mild amount of nasal secretions accumulatig here. Multifocal chronic alveolitis with loss of the lamina dura is noted. All jaw quadrants present symmetric moderate disuse atrophy. The left tympanic bulla is filled with non-enhancing soft tissue attenuating material. A mild amount of the same material is seen on the floor of the right tympanic bulla.

DX

• Impacted tooth remnant with chronic alveolitis oronasal fistula formation and locally destructive rhinitis • Generalized severe periodontale disease, FORL, tooth root resorption and jaw bone atrophy • Bilateral otitis media • No evidence of a pharyngealpoly or other soft tissue mass/malignancy • No evidence of sinusits
